Home-Based players to kick-off preparation President of Nigeria Football Federation, Tijani Umar has informed Complete Sports that the nation's men's team, D'Tigers will be called to camp on May 19 to begin preparation for the 2013 FIBA African Championship holding in Cote d'Ivoire.

According to Umar, the camp will open will home based players before the foreign based will join them for the tournament scheduled to hold between August 20 an 31 in Abidjan.

He also assumed that the home based players will not just be used as training materials but some will make the team to Cote d'Ivoire.

Nigeria will do battle with Cameroun, Congo and Mali during the FIBA-Africa Championship in Abidjan.

It would be recalled that the last outing of D'Tigers was at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and that was the first time the country will qualify for the global events.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Basketball Federation has revealed the delay in naming a new coach for the senior national team, saying the process is being delayed for political reasons.

I can report that the tenure of the board will come to an end in the next two or three months and that has been cited as the reason for the delay.

"We don't want to appoint a coach that the new board would not want, so we are just taking our time on that and when the new executives come on board, we can start talking about the new coach," Muktar Khale, first vice president of the NBBF said.
