The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, in company of members of the State Executive Council, top government functionaries and invited dignitaries will launch a public awareness campaign for environmental development on Saturday, 20th April, 2013.

The programme tagged “The Green Walk” kicks off by 7.00am from the M.K.O stadium in Kuto through Lalubu Street to the new Totoro road in Abeokuta with the State’s helmsman and other top government functionaries making symbolic planting of trees along the route.     A release by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Engineer Olufemi Falano stated that among others, the “Green Walk” programme is to sensitize the general public on the social, communal and environmental benefits embedded in tree planting and discourage them from indiscriminate felling of trees.     It added that this effort of government would also harp on the need for the State to key into the numerous benefits derivable from tree planting and ultimately ensure a nicer and healthier environment.     Meanwhile, all public servants on Grade Level 07 and above in the State Public Service have been directed to attend the programme.
