Albion have put talks about fining Peter Odemwingie on hold after striking a temporary peace agreement with the striker.

The Baggies have reached an uneasy truce with the Nigeria international that will see further discussions about his punishment delayed until the end of the season.

The new agreement follows talks between the Odemwingie camp and high-level Hawthorns officials that also involved players' union chief Gordon Taylor.

The talks, which involved Albion chairman Jeremy Peace and chief executive Mark Jenkins, ended with the parties agreeing to see out the Premier League season – starting with this afternoon's clash with Wigan – before holding further meetings.

Odemwingie has questioned the size of fines – believed to amount to more than £100,000 – levied for his outspoken comments on Twitter during and after his attempts to leave the club and join QPR in January.

He is also disenchanted with a lack of first team football.
