Banyan Global is currently recruiting a Banking and Finance Advisor. The successful candidate will work on a USAID-funded health sector development project in Nigeria, with a focus on family planning, reproductive health and maternal and child health. Among other objectives, the project seeks to improve the ability of private sector health providers to manage their practices profitability, and to access credit. With enhanced business capabilities, these businesses will expand and improve their ability to offer high-quality health care products and services.

Banyan Global is currently seeking a Banking and Finance Advisor to work with both financial institutions and prospective borrowers in order to stimulate financing to private health providers. This position will be based in Lagos. A strong preference will be given to Nigerian citizens.

Responsibilities:    – Facilitate linkages between financial institutions and health providers, resulting in mutually beneficially lending arrangements – Work closely with other members of the SHOPS Nigeria Business Unit to identify providers graduating from the business training and business counseling components that would be appropriate candidates for bank financing – Liaise with banks to access information on health sector lending – Work with banks to develop and refine lending products for the private health sector – Strengthen banks' relationships with provider groups and associations, and facilitate meetings between these parties to promote mutual understanding – Work directly with providers to help them understand the specific financial products available from financial institutions, and whether pursuing these products would be profitable – Monitor market trends and share information with banks, associations, and the project – Liaise with the project monitoring and evaluation team to monitor the effectiveness of bank lending on provider profitability and improved health outcomes – Assist with other project activities as needed

Qualifications:    – A minimum of 3 years of experience working in the Nigerian banking and finance sector, preferably with some experience as a loan officer focusing on MSME lending – Knowledge and understanding of the business needs of small and medium-sized businesses – Familiarity with the private health sector in Nigeria – Knowledge of business development services, including training, counseling and business networking – Excellent project management, communication, writing, and computer skills – Ability to negotiate, manage and build partnerships – Knowledge and experience with the policy and regulatory environment as relates to business and finance side of the private health sector in Nigeria – Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or other relevant discipline – Ability to work both independently and as part of a team – Ability to travel within Nigeria (up to 30%) – Previous experience working on USAID projects is a plus
