Swansea Ease Injury Fears Over Goalkeeper

Swansea City have eased fears over the injury that led to Dutch goalkeeper Michel Vorm being carried off on a stretcher during their 3-2 Premier League win at Wigan.

Vorm clashed heads with defender Ben Davies in the 85th minute.

Manager Michael Laudrup said that Vorm later "seemed okay" and was walking around in the dressing room.

"From the bench it looked very serious... but after the game... he looked okay," said Laudrup.

"But again I think we'll have to wait [to see] if he's 100%."

Roger Espinoza's volley gave the hosts the lead on the stroke of half-time, but Angel Rangel hit back for Swansea.

James McCarthy restored Wigan's lead but goals from Itay Shechter and Dwight Tiendalli gave the visitors victory.

The win boosted the Swans' hopes of fulfilling Laudrup's wish for a top-10 finish as they ended a seven-match winless run. They are ninth in the table, five points clear of 11th-placed Stoke with two games remaining.

But it also damaged former boss Roberto Martinez's bid to prevent Wigan, who are three points from safety, dropping into the Championship.

Laudrup said: "In the second half especially it was very intense, which is normal, of course, from their point of view because they were playing for their football lives.

"But I think coming back in an away game against Wigan in this situation twice, I can be very pleased as a manager.

"I think we could have done a little more in the first half, maybe to be a little more direct and keep the ball a little more.
.
"Then, again, we concede a goal in the last second [of the first half].
.
"But we came back and I think a lot of credit [should go] to my players, but especially for that second half.
.
"We ended up with quite a bad run with only draws and losses - seven games, I think.
