Suspected Pirates Kill Two In Bayelsa State

Suspected pirates reportedly shot dead two persons in the early hours of yesterday in the riverside town of Kuroamagbene in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

It was learnt that the deceased were relatives of the Special Adviser to the Bayelsa Governor on Higher Education, Dr. Godswill Ziriki.

One of the victims was recently appointed as a caretaker committee member of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Development Centre.

The incident occurred at about 1 a.m. yesterday at the community waterfront.

Sources told Vanguard that the victims met their untimely death when they, alongside other youths, tried to scare away some intruders suspected to be pirates from stealing a speed boat at the community waterfront.
