Centre for Interfaith holds public lecture in Nasarawa State.

The Centers for Interfaith and Multicultural Dialogue held a one day public lecture on the topic, "Ccommunal conflict in Nasarawa State, Causes and Prevention."

The lecture which was organized by the Centre was aimed at proffering solution to incessant communal conflicts that have bedeviled communities and various ethnic groups in the State.

While he was declaring the public lecture opened, the Deputy Governor, Hon. Dameshi Luka Barau said the event is aimed at sharpening the consciousness of all and sundry on the fundamental place of communal harmony, peace, tranquility, love, togetherness, fraternity and progress, not only the State but the society as a whole.

While commending the Centre for Interfaith and Multicultural Dialogue for taking the bull by the horns to overcome the monster of communal conflicts that threaten the corporate existence  of the State, the Deputy Governor said government places high premium on peace and harmonious co-existence as a sine-qua-non  for socio-economic development of the State; adding that the State Government has since assumption  in 2011, created various platforms for the peaceful resolution of various conflicts amongst the people.  He stressed that it will continue to intensity its efforts aimed at ensuring that all groups in the State embrace dialogue in the state.

While lamenting the unfortunate setback, communal conflict has caused to the developmental efforts of the State Government, he said no human society exist without conflict, pointing out that it behooves man to coin the way or capacity to manage it, as according to him, this is the only way that can guarantee the survival and preservation of the society.

He called on various ethnic groups, religious body, political and sundry interests in the State to understand each other, for the betterment and corporate survival of the State.

In his remark, the Chairman of the Centre for Interfaith and Multicultural Dialogue, Mr. Suleiman Inchi said the Centre is most concerned with the recent communal conflict in Nasarawa State and to prevent further conflicts, it is necessary for citizens of Nasarawa State to respect one another's faiths and culture, which according to him which informed the Centre's decision for a public centre.

He commended the State government for its efforts at promoting peaceful co-existence among the different ethnic and religious groups in the State and called on all citizens living in the State to support the government in those efforts.
