Job Title: IPNOC Support Engineer  

Job Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Organisation: Main One Cable Nigeria

Responsibilities: The NOC Support Staff provides 1st Level operations support for all of the customers on the Metro Ethernet /Fast Connect Platform.

The NOC Engineer’s responsibilities shall include:

•         Oversee the proper functioning of all network elements

•         Ensure that all fault tickets are promptly attended to and resolved in a timely manner.

•         Handle all 1st Level and 2nd Level customer related issues

•         Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of the network.

•         Ability to interpret EMS & NMS alarm for transmission / IP / Metro Ethernet network.

•         Resolution & Tracking of the incidents for running tools, systems & applications for performance improvement.

•         Customer Relationship Management

Qualifications, Skills  & Competencies:   

•         Relevant professional/technical certifications

•         Minimum of 4 years’ relevant Network and Systems experience.

•         Strong experience configuring and troubleshooting routers and switches. (Cisco, Huawei, RAD etc)

•         Working knowledge of IP, SDH, L2VPN and EVPL

•         Good computer and system administration troubleshooting skills. (Windows and MAC environments)

•         Working knowledge in operations/fault management & provisioning environment.

•         Strong understanding of DHCP, DNS, and IP addressing concepts.

•         Strong troubleshooting skills shown through approach and methods.

•         Ability to use monitoring tools (e.g Cacti,)

•         Strong understanding of a process driven environment

•         CCNP certification or equivalent experience

•         Familiarity with Linux and Windows server operating environment.

•         Proficient in Internet related applications such as E-Mail clients, FTP clients and Web Browsers.

•         Ability to mentor young engineers.

•         Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

•         Availability to work overtime in times of emergency and specialized project deliveries.

•         Understand and manage the pressure of a 24×7 customer support environment

•         Ability to work on a shift pattern
