BARELY 14 hours to the presidential election, which held yesterday, The Guardian reporter received a call on his mobile phone at about 7.20pm.

"Hello! Who is this?" said the reporter. The caller with telephone number 014405167, went on to say: "Hello, thank you for taking my call. This is President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. I will like you to vote for me in the upcoming general election so that I can continue to transform Nigeria. I will like to put my trust in you for continuity and to bring about the desired change our dear nation deserves. Thank you for your support and may God bless you. Bye!"

Excited and surprised about the call, The Guardian dialed the number and heard the same voice, which undoubtedly belongs to the president.

Indeed, President Jonathan has taken presidential campaign in Africa and obviously the world, to a new level.

Meanwhile, former Minister of Information and Communication and Senatorial candidate of APGA, Prof. Dora Akunyili, yesterday stormed Awka to vote and mobilise support for Jonathan.

In the city, Anambrarians from Onitsha, Ogidi to Awka, were seen routing for the candidacy of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The support for President Jonathan in Anambra, The Guardian gathered in Awka, the state capital, went beyond the adoption of the PDP candidate by the ruling party in the state, All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

From motor touts to students, mechanics, traders, okada riders, bus drivers, traditionalists and clergymen, there was unanimity of choice.

A trader at Awka Main Market said: "I did not vote in the last election, but because of Jonathan, I came out to vote. Since Jonathan became president, business has improved. He removed the ban on so many goods and we are now making profit unlike before.
