inflationLatest figures out from the National Bureau of Statistics say Nigeria's inflation accelerated to 9.1 percent in April, from 8.6 percent the previous month, while the economy expanded 6.6 percent in the first quarter of 2013. Inflation figures fell below 10 percent in January, meeting the Central Bank's target, as the impact of last year's higher fuel prices waned. The apex bank has kept its policy rate unchanged at a record high of 12 percent for nine consecutive meetings to curb inflation and support the naira. The CBN's Monetary Policy Committee is set to meet again on May the 21st, and analysts believe it may leave the rates unchanged.
