Ndubuoke wants club managers out of LMC

Chairman of Heartland, Chief Fan Ndubuoke, has called for the removal of club mangers from the League Management Committee (LMC). Fuming with rage after his club lost 1-2 to Sunshine Stars in Akure mid-week, Chief Ndubuoke alleged that some members of the committee are using their position to influence the referees.

"If we must have a level playing field, then club managers currently in the LMC must give way. Some of them are using their position to influence the results of matches and those who follow the league know those involved in this practice," he said. The club boss said that his club literally saw hell in Akure, even as he accused the referees that handled the match as being responsible for Heartland's defeat. In Ndubuoke's words: "Signs that we were in for real trouble started very early in the game when our striker, Happy Okwuaka, was shown a red card.

Despite playing one man down, we went ahead to score first through Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, only for the referee to start his abracadabra. The referee ended up awarding the host (Sunshine Stars) two penalties and added as much as eight minutes after regulation time. What happened in that match was nothing but a shame, we just can't continue that way." The Heartland's boss said that his club would file a formal protest and demand that the referee from Delta State that handled that match be investigated.

"We are going to file a formal protest. Two dubious penalties were awarded against us in Akure and this trend can't continue if our league must grow," he insisted.
