Head coach of the Nigeria under-20 football team, John Obuh has moved to explain his decision to drop seven key members of his squad for the Toulon tournament in France.
.
Obuh dropped captain, Abduljelil Ajagun and six other experienced members of his squad for the warm up tournament in France.
.
Jonah Usman, Chidi Osuchukwu, Chizoba Amaefule, Agboyi Ovbokha, Sikiru Alimi and Lucky Omeruo were the other experienced personnel dropped for the warm up tournament sending some sections of the local media into a frenzy.
.
Obuh has now reacted angrily to the reports insinuating that the dropped players will not make his squad for the Fifa under 20 world cup which begins in Turkey on June 21.
.
"It's not true that the players dropped for the Toulon tournament will not make the final world cup list. I don't understand where all those stories are emanating from," Obuh exclusively said on Saturday.
.
The Flying Egles coach further explained that he was merely looking to see how well the other members of the team would acquit themselves at the warm up tournament.
.
"I just want to see what the other members of the squad can do and the tournament in France gives me the best opportunity to do just that.
.
"After the tournament, I will have a clearer idea about the players who will eventually make my 21- match squad," he said.
.
The Flying Eagles are making their debut at the famous Toulon Tournament and kick off their campaign on Wednesday, May 29, against defending champions Mexico.

All he needs to do is work on their goal scoring abilities. Dropping key members of the squad does not go down well with me.
