Poor budget execution delaying projects —Lawmaker

The member representing Kosofe Federal Constituency of Lagos in the House of Representatives, Mr. Dayo Bush-Alebiosu, has said poor budget implementation by the executive arm of  government is slowing down the delivery of constituency projects by the National Assembly.

A statement on Sunday said the lawmaker made this known on Saturday during the inauguration of some constituency projects he facilitated in Lagos.

The lawmaker, who is also the Chairman of the Committee on Treaties and Agreements, said, "Many other projects, including the distribution of 17 transformers in this constituency, are being delayed by poor budget implementation and funding.

"This is slowing down the realisation of our humble goal for the people of Kosofe.

"But let me assure you that slowly and steadily, dividends of effective representation will continue to be achieved for the constituents and with my passion and un-bridled commitment to the uplift of my Federal Constituency, all these projects will be delivered for their good use."

The projects inaugurated on Saturday were solar-powered street light in Magodo; solar-powered, motorised and hand-held water projects in  Isheri-Olowoora, Mende Town Hall, Maryland; Oriola Street in Alapere-Ketu,  Segun Oduwole Street in Ogudu-Orioke, Alabi Owoyemi Street and Oworonshoki.

The lawmaker, who also used the event to inaugurate a constituency office in Anthony-Village, said Kosofe Federal Constituency was the second largest in Lagos State and one of the largest Federal Constituencies in Nigeria.

He said, "This constituency has a mix of people in the grassroots and the high-class and this new constituency office will provide a befitting meeting point between them and their representative."
