The Lagos State Government said it has built a 10.4megawatt power plant Alausa, to replace the 14-MW diesel generator used within the state secretariat, which also houses the seat of government.
.
The State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Taofiq Tijani, at a press briefing to commemorate the 6th anniversary of Governor Babatunde Fashola's administration in Lagos, said the Independent Power Plant, IPP, would be commissioned in August this year.
.
The commissioner explained that the power plant will be powered with natural gas, and would also serve the State Secretariat and its environs.
.
Tijani noted that the inauguration of the power plant would be the third in the series, as the state had previously opened the 12.15MW Akute Power Plant, and 10MW Island Power Plant serving the state water corporation's needs and Lagos Island street lights, courts and hospitals respectively.
