Edo State Logo                        The Edo State government has said that in spite of the clear political divide it shares with the Federal Government, it will stop at nothing to support the initiatives that will enhance the welfare of the majority of Nigerians.

This pledge was made by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, when he received the committee on the integration of Out of School Children into the Universal Basic Education programme, recently in the Government House, Benin City.

Prof. Ihonvbere emphasized that a well-articulated synergy in policies and programme devoid of politics was the best way to fast –track the desired growth and development of the people.

The SSG assured his guests that the State government was ready to partner with the federal government to realize the mandate of the committee.

Leader of the committee on integration of out of school children into the Universal Basic Education Programme, Prof. Emeka Ezeonu, said that the visit to Edo State which was an assessment survey was to secure the parcel of land for the federal government to build schools in the state.

According to Prof. Ezeonu, eleven states in the southern part of the country will benefit from the initiative, adding that on the completion of the project, the model schools will be handed over to the various state governments.
