NAFDAC to collaborate with China and India to regulate fake products in Nigeria.

                        The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is to collaborate with India and Chinese Governments, who are the major importers of medicine and food into Nigeria, towards the regulation and circulation of fake products in the country.

The Director General of NAFDAC, Mr. Paul Orhii stated this in Gombe when he paid a courtesy on the State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dakwambo, who was represented by his deputy, Mr. Tha'anda Jason Rubainu.

The Governor, who stressed the need for stopping fake products at sources, called for strict penalties like stringent legislation of capital punishment for offenders, added that production and handling of fake products constitutes great health hazards to man.

The NAFDAC Director General who disclosed that his agency has contacted the Chinese and Indian parliaments on how to curb the production and importation of fake products into Nigeria, through proper legislation, disclosed that NAFDAC had put machineries in place on how Nigerians can detect fake products while calling on the people to assist the Agency by availing themselves of such opportunities.  He appealed to local Government areas to constitute NAFDAC, bases in their areas, to regulate illegal adverts and sale of fake drugs and food.

In his response, the Gombe State Governor, who spoke through his deputy, Mr.Tha'anda Jason Rubainu commended NAFDAC in its efforts at curtailing the activities of counterfeiters.  He called on the Federal Government to partner with manufacturers of food and drugs in order to ensure that only quality products are manufactured and consumed in Nigeria.

He however, commended Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dakwambo for supporting the activities of NAFDAC in the State; while assuring the Agency of the continued support of the State Government towards riding the country of fake food and drugs.
