Court Orders PDP To Stop Further Action On Amaechi

JUSTICE Emmanuel Ogbuji of a Port Harcourt High Court yesterday stopped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from taking further action against the governor of Rivers  State, Mr Chibuike Amaechi pending determination of a suit filed by the governor challenging his suspension by the party.

Governor Amaechi had approached the court yesterday seeking an order to stop the party from taking further action against him until hearing on his suit challenging his suspension was concluded.

Justice Ogbuji further directed that the party be served through publication in three national newspapers and by pasting the notice on the party's secretariat.

Continuing, the court ordered the party to appear before it on June 6th.  Lead counsel to the governor, Akin Olubumi, SAN lauded the action of the court, saying that the party had no right to suspend a sitting governor.
