Mallorca will be playing for their La Liga lives when they host Real Valladolid on Saturday but the league's bottom side still don't know if they will be able to count on key Mexican forward Giovani Dos Santos.

World football governing body Fifa told Mallorca on Friday that they must release Dos Santos for a Mexico training camp in the United States, as part of the central American nation's preparation for June's Confederations Cup in Brazil, which begins in two weeks.

"Our coach Gregorio Manzano explained Friday that after receiving authorisation from the Spanish Professional Football League to play Giovani... this morning the club received a communique from Fifa asking to free the player 14 days before the Confederations Cup," said a statement on the Balearic Island club's website.
