Ogun Okada Riders Raise Alarm Over Possible Ban

Commercial motorcyclists in Ogun State, numbering about 10,000, yesterday, cried out against possible banning of commercial motorcycles in the state, saying it would trigger more insecurity and unemployment problems.

The motorcyclists, popularly called Okada riders, who converged on Abeokuta under the aegis of Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycles Riders Association of Nigeria, ACOMORAN, said banning of motorcycles would do more harm than good to any government.

Chairman of the association, Chief Adebayo, speaking at a seminar organised for members tagged Ride to Live, said commercial motorcycling ranks among the highest employers of labour.

He said: "Banning of commercial motorcycles is not the solution to the problems associated with commercial motorcycling.
