Job Title: Legal Manager

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Job Description: The Legal Manager will be required to effectively and efficiently manage the Legal department, provide legal advisory services and ensure proper management of legal and contractual risks in the organization thereby contributing to business growth.

The Legal Manager is expected to:

•   Provide leadership, manage staff and resources in the Legal department

•   Provide and interpret legal information and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to staff.

•   Review and advise management on legal implication of internal policies and procedures

•   Continuously monitor compliance with statutory obligations and advise management accordingly

•   Assess legal implications that needs to be brought to the management's attention

•   Prepare, review and modify contractual instruments to support various business activities

•   Negotiate, review and draft documentations for business transactions

•   Prepare monthly and quarterly report of the department for executive management meetings

•   Provide continuous leadership, supervision, training and development of the Legal department staff to ensure an effective and motivated team

•   Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate course actions are taken.

•   Liaise with the HR department in conducting performance appraisal to ensure competency gaps are addressed.

•   Provide legal protection and risk management advice to management especially on contract management

Requirements:

•   A minimum of Bachelors degree or its equivalent in the Arts or Social Sciences

•   5-7 years post call inclusive of NYSC. At least 4 of these years in a tier 1 corporate commercial legal firm or in a leading corporate Legal department.

•   A professional and commercial approach to legal affairs

•   Confidence and articulation with capital market knowledge

•   Managerial skills for supervision and management of staff and company assets.
