The Nigeria Women's Football League (NWFL) will take punitive action against league club, Sunshine Queens following their game against Rivers Angels on Sunday.
.
Rivers Angels abandoned the game late in the second half after a controversial penalty was awarded to the home side.
.
It was the second penalty the Akure club had gotten on the day after taking the lead in the first half through another spot kick, hugely contested by the visitors.
.
Meanwhile, head of the NWFL and executive committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dilichukwu Onyedinma confirmed that she had received a complaint about the situation and stressed that the secretariat is poised to "take action."
.
"We have already summoned the officials of Sunshine Queens. This is the third consecutive time we are receiving complaints of this nature from visiting teams.
.
"I do not understand why any club in the league will embark on the win-at-home-at-all-cost syndrome. It does not promote the spirit of the game and if Sunshine Stars are found guilty of bringing the game to disrepute, they will be punished. We must take action if need be," Onyedinma told supersport.com on Monday.
.
Head coach of Rivers Angels, Edwin Okon said he had never seen refereeing that bad in his professional career.
