Job Title: Heavy Duty Mechanic

Locations: Nigeria (Benin City, Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Warri, or Yenagoa)

Employer: OBAX Worldwide Limited

Responsibilities:

•   Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.

•   Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.

•   Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.

•   Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.

•   Repairs and overhauls automobiles, buses, trucks, and. other automotive vehicles: Examines vehicle and discusses with Workshop coordinator nature and extent of damage or malfunction.

•   Plans work procedure, using charts, technical manuals, and experience.

•   Raises vehicle, using hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle.

•   Removes unit, such as engine, transmission, or differential, using wrenches and hoist.

•   Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and thickness gauges.

•   Repairs or replaces parts, such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings, using mechanic's hand tools.

•   Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.

•   Rebuilds parts, such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks, using lathes, shapers, drill presses, and welding equipment.

•   Re-allign and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solders leaks in radiator.

Qualifications and Requirements:

•   Minimum 10 years experience as a Mechanic

•   Knowledge of heavy duty vehicle, functionality and problem solving action plan in line with manufacturer recommendations.

•   A Diploma in Mechanical Technology/Engineering or a Trade Test certificate.

•   Ability to meet deadline

•   Ability to work without supervision

•   Safety conscious

•   Accurate diagnostic skill
