Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Equipment and Piping

Job Description: – The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for verification of all mechanical equipment and piping engineering and design on the Project.  – Oversees the EPC contractor's production of the required mechanical / piping deliverables within project budget and schedule.  – Ensures that the Project's requirements, as detailed in the Technical Specifications and Scope of Supply, for all mechanical / piping items are met.  – Assists with all aspects mechanical / piping engineering for the Project, whenever called upon by the Lead Engineer.  – Facilitates interfaces among the Lead Engineer, COMPANY Functions, and EPC contractor's organization with respect to mechanical / piping issues.

Responsibilities and duties:

• Provide overall mechanical engineering technical leadership and expertise

• Coordinate COMPANY Facilities engineering team members' involvement in mechanical / piping activities, including interaction with EPC contractor's mechanical personnel

• Prepare and submit Mechanical engineering and design monthly progress data, including narratives, charts, graphs, etc. to the Lead Engineer

• Provide Departmental input in Hazardous Operations (HAZOPS) reviews

• Provide Departmental input in Risk Management activities, as appropriate

• Advise the EPC contractor's mechanical engineering and design effort with respect to: – Mechanical equipment data sheet completeness and accuracy – Mechanical engineering / piping studies and analyses – Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) reviews with emphasis on equipment safety and operability – Inspection and test plans, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Integration Tests (SITs) – Compliance with design methods and safety factors to be used in design of project – Occasional vendor shop visits for progress review and status up-dates.

• Steward the EPC contractor's mechanical engineering, design, fabrication, and installation activities including: – Detail mechanical engineering and design of fixed equipment, piping and valves – Recommended deliverables and labor hour estimate for mechanical work – Measurement and reporting of physical progress – Providing appropriate technical specifications to be used for mechanical equipment, piping and valves – Review of drawings and other deliverables as required for inter-discipline design coordination – Review of vendor data for completeness as required for mechanical / piping design and compliance with project specifications – Assistance in procurement of mechanical equipment including bid evaluations, review of bid tabulations, initiating bid recommendations, etc. – Development of field installation plans and procedures for equipment and piping tests – Transportation and transportation fatigue analyses as required – Verifying and coordinating short and long term equipment preservation requirements, including maintaining a sign-off sheet for required inspections

Job Requirements:

• Thorough knowledge of: – Mechanical engineering & piping design principles and manufacturing processes – Applicable codes, standards, and trade practices

• COMPANYengineering practices, processes, and expectations

• Experience in factory performance and acceptance testing

• Thorough knowledge and expert judgment in the selection and application of mechanical design analyses hardware and software

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering

• 15+ years of closely related professional engineering experience, 10+ years of which should be at the Senior Mechanical Engineer level

• 5+ years as a Project Engineer or Lead Mechanical Engineer for a large project

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs, Lotus Notes, etc.

• Read, write, and speak fluent English, as required to function effectively within a project team and to communicate with project management, contractors, and sub contractors
