Companies and government bodies have been urged to embrace the structured approach of programme management if they must achieve strategic organisational goals.
.
Oluwatosin Agbetusin, a programme manager with Ericsson Nigeria who made the call as Guest Speaker during a recent congress organised by the Lagos chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI), said so many private and public organisations were losing money due to project failures – mostly caused by inadequate utilisation of structured project and programme management frameworks or incompetence in project management delivery.
.
"Organisations should properly institutionalise structured project and programme management processes and frameworks into their operations," he said, adding that project/programme management should be seen as a discipline, career and proper profession and not just a supervisory role that could be handled by anybody with technical skills as seen in Nigeria in the past.
