Overview:

The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) works in partnership with country governments, partners, and other major stakeholders to identify the key obstacles to access and scale-up of essential health services and to develop sustainable strategies to overcome them. CHAI's solution-oriented approach focuses on improving market dynamics for medicines and diagnostics; lowering prices for treatment; accelerating access to life-saving vaccines and technologies; and helping governments build the capacity required for high-quality care and treatment programs.

In 2010, CHAI launched a vaccine program to apply the techniques it has used successfully to improve access to HIV/AIDS and malaria treatment in developing countries to essential vaccines, one of the most cost-effective public health interventions. CHAI's Vaccine Program aims to

1)      increase the speed and efficiency with which new vaccines are introduced and reach scale in developing countries (with a focus on pneumococcal, rotavirus and pentavalent vaccines);

2)      transform vaccine delivery systems for greater effectiveness, efficiency, and readiness for the future; and

3)      reduce prices of vaccines and other immunization-related commodities.

The program is currently focused in six countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Tanzania.

Responsibilities:

The Program Coordinator will be responsible to provide the global vaccine team administrative, operational and programmatic support to the global vaccine team and the vaccine program overall. This individual must be highly motivated individual with outstanding written and verbal communication skills and an excellent organizational and follow through.

•   Assist with grant development, reporting, and budget tracking

•   Coordinate calls with many parties (internal and external) across multiple time zones, take meeting notes, and follow up

•   Maintain and develop administrative resources to facilitate efficient operations across the vaccine program (contact lists, calendar, website, dropbox, google doc)

•   Identify, organize and facilitate access to internal and external knowledge for the vaccine program (manage program's resource library, journal subscriptions, synthesize relevant news relevant to the program, write program newsletter)

•   Plan 1-2 program meetings per year.  The Program Coordinator will coordinate all logistical aspects including:

•   Identifying potential venues for meetings

•   Setting up and logistics, communicating with the venue and participants to ensure smooth operations

•   Developing materials for the meeting, working with participants to address travel needs, and, along with program staff, negotiating terms with the venue

•   Note taking, tracking follow up activities, ensuring timely execution, etc

•   Support on boarding of new staff

•   Provide research and analytical support to the team, such as assisting with the creation and editing of PowerPoint presentations and documents

•   Any other duties as required by the global vaccine team

Qualifications:

•   Outstanding academic credentials (with at least a Bachelor degree)

•   Minimum 2 years private sector work experience

•   Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

•   Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with people of varied professional, cultural, and educational backgrounds

•   Strong work ethic, supported by commitment and follow-through

•   Strong problem-solving skills

•   Entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to take initiative in proposing and implementing new ideas

•   Ability to be effective and flexible in high-pressure situations, to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and to set priorities

•   Strong desire to work in a fast-paced, limited-structure, multicultural environment

•   High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
