Robert Stempel, a gifted engineer and greentech visionary, headed General Motors during a turbulent period in the early 1990s. Stempel was forced by GM's board of directors to resign in 1992. He enjoyed a second career working with Stan Ovshinsky on cutting-edge technologies at Energy Conversion Devices.
