Job Title: Assistant General Manager, Health and Safety Standards and Compliance

Job summary: The Assistant General Manager, Health and Safety Standards and Compliance will work with the Deputy General Manager Generation / Health and Safety Regulation to develop and drive strategies for performance in the Unit.

Key Responsibilities:

1.   Develops and supervises processes and procedures for Health & Safety Codes, Regulations, Manuals

2.   Conducts inspections, tests and certifications on workplace health and safety for licensed operators

3.   Addresses hiccups; manages likely barriers and mitigate possible risks

4.   Ensures compliance with the prescribed guidelines

5.   Builds and leads an effective and cohesive team of Engineers

Person Specification:

Required Knowledge and Skills:

1.   A firm understanding of the Commission's mandate and the Electricity sector in Nigeria

2.   Good leadership skills: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others

3.   Competent in strategic planning and implementation

4.   Adept in the use of the computer, especially Microsoft Office suite

5.   Technical skills in engineering, health and safety standards and compliance management

6.   Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level

7.   Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

8.   Must be focused and results-oriented

Educational / Professional Qualification(s):

1.   An Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree from a recognized institution

2.   A post graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering will be advantage

3.   Must be COREN registered

4.   Must have a Safety Professional Certification relevant to the Power Industry

Work Experience: Minimum of 18 years post-graduate cognate experience with at least 4 years of which must have been in a management position
