Our client is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies. Employing over 100,000 personnel in around 90 countries their strategy is to reinforce their position as a leader in the Oil & Gas industry.

They are currently recruiting for the position of Head of Project Services, based in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Job Description:

•   Developing the specific project management processes listed above, leveraging and improving existing work processes that are currently being used by the SPDC Projects' teams. This work will be done in close collaboration with the Project Manager, other project team members, and other stakeholders supporting the current initiative to develop a generic, standardized Project Management System and supporting systems, tools and processes.

•   Support the project team with, Cost Accounting, Contracts, Data Management & Document Control, the SAP processes and systems, and General Office Services.

•   Integrate the activities of all support functions in the Project Services unit such that a good quality of support is achieved and no gaps or overlaps exist. Act as the Commercial "conscience" of the Project.

•   Support development and maintain the Investment proposal and the Sub Budget Items for the Project in terms of Budget and Base line schedule.

•   Develop and implement strategies for the execution of the Projects, taking into account the importance of achieving the completion date of the project, the involvement of indigenous contractors and the inclusion of CASHES policies.

•   Develop and maintain the Project Interface with the SPDC Commercial Function; Finance organisation and Tender Boards, the Personnel Function; Services Organisation, the Procurement and Logistics Function and the Information Technology Function within SPDC.

•   Communicating and implementing the Project Management System and supporting processes. Implementation of the PMS and supporting processes will require constant interaction with the project teams, the customers, other Project Management Services teams and the major contractors.

•   Interfacing with major contractors and vendors to understand their project control procedures and to establish procedures for information flow from them to the project, i.e., status reports, schedule updates, etc.

•   Coordinating the flow of project information (cost, schedule, resource, etc.) to the project team, customer, and other stakeholders. Included in this responsibility will be analyzing the project performance data and developing effective reporting methods for communicating project performance to the various stakeholders. At all times maintaining strong links to the generic and standardized management and reporting systems.

•   Coordinate the implementation and effective use of the SAP system in the project team, as the key-enabling tool for many of the project management processes.

•   Prepare monthly Project Progress Reports for Senior Management.

Skills & Experience:

•   Incumbent must be a graduate in a technical discipline with a working knowledge of and experience in implementing business control and project management principles and practices as described in such documents as SIEPs OPMG.

•   Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge.

•   PMI's PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is desirable but not required.

•   Prior experience with major E&P development projects is desired but not required.

•   Experience in design/construction and project management of oil and gas facilities is essential.

•   Experience with development and implementation of project management processes, i.e. contract management, procurement, project accounting, document and resource management etc.

•   Vast E&P experience with excellent inter-personal, negotiating skills and leadership skills.

•   Good communications skills (i.e. strong listening, report writing and presentation) are essential.

•   Working knowledge of the Company financial system and SAP.

•   Demonstrated strong leadership skills

•   Excellent PC skills, with emphasis on database and data analysis skills

This is a contract position.

The rate for this position is negotiable.
