Mr Bamigbetan was kidnapped by the gunmen as he was about to enter his street in Ejigbo, a suburb of Lagos in April. The suspects were reported to have called his wife demanding $1 million (about N158 million) with a warning that she should not contact the police. Although Mr Bamigbetan was released shortly after, it was not clear if the ransom was paid.
