Chairman, Oyo State Local Government Staff Pensions Board, Chief Lasisi Ayankojo, said on Sunday that 10 officials of the board were currently involved in N5.9bn pension scam.

Ayankojo, in a statement issued in Ibadan on Sunday, said the discovery was made in an effort to sanitise the civil service in the state.

The statement said, "The state government has zero tolerance for corruption. This explains why the accused persons were recently handed over to officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

"As a transparent government, the present administration in the state will not cover up any act of corruption, no matter the calibre of those involved.

"The state government has always made its stand known on issues bothering on corruption and embezzlement of public funds."

The accused persons are Alhaji Hakeem Muili, Alhaja Iyabo Giwa, Adeduntan Johnson, Oguntayo Banji and Adesina Jimoh.

Others include Johson Bosede, Adebiyi Olasumbo, Kareem Rasheed, Muili Adedamola and Salewa Adedeji.

It will be recalled that officials of the EFCC recently arrested the 10 accused persons within the premises of the Magistrates' Court, Iyaganku, Ibadan.

Their arrest was sequel to an earlier ruling by Chief Magistrate Durosaro Kehinde-Tijani of Chief Magistrates' Court, Ibadan, which struck out the case against them to enable the EFCC to carry out investigation on the matter.
