MAIN ACTIVITIES:

Providing Technical Assistance to the Project Package Teams working in Nigerian Yards in term of metallurgy, welding and non destructive testing applications and Ensuring that Contractors are followings the applicable Project Specifications, General Specifications and International Codes/Standards.

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES:  – Review the applicable WPS’s with existing PQR’s. – Review and approve the welding matrix and welding procedure specification to be qualified. – Participate on welding procedure qualification, including NDE, Mechanical Testing when required. – Review the existing WPQ’s on validity and traceability. – Participate on the Welders and Welding Operators qualifications. – Review welding procedure specifications (WPS), welding procedure qualification records (PQR) and approves Welder & Welding Operators Performance Qualification Records (WPQ). – Review and approve the NDE procedures and Operators certification & qualification. – Ensure that Welders and Welding Operators have valid qualifications for the work they are undertaking. – Monitor performance of Production Tests and NDE in terms of quality and frequency, ensuring conformity with relevant specifications and codes – Monitor, with a team of Welding Inspectors, the welding work carried out by Contractor to ensure that proper welding procedures, duly qualified welders and proper welding consumables are in use. – Ensure that Contractor maintains accurate welding records throughout the contractual period – Organize and conduct with QA/QC Manager process audits for his field of activity. – Ensure that acceptable standards of welding quality are maintained and that repair rates remain at an acceptable level. – Support the rest of the team and propose alternative courses of action, wherever possible, to facilitate efficient Project progress. – Participate in regular meetings to keep abreast with all issues relating to the Project. Discuss and review opportunities for the optimization of assigned work programs. – Ensure timely delivery of Preliminary welding tests and NDE documents to enable the procurement and construction. Processes to progress, with the objective to reduce costs without impacting the schedule or the required level of quality and safety

Degree Qualified in Materials or Welding Engineer (ESSA) or experienced technician with HND/HNC and minimum of 10 years experiences in the oil and gas industry.

Professional experience:  – Minimum 10 years of experience associated with Welding, Metallurgy, Mechanical Testing and Non Destructive Testing. – Minimum 5 years experience of applicable codes and standards such as API 1104, ASME V-VIII-IX, BSI PD 5500 and AWS D1.1.
