Job Title: Specialist, Environment Compliance

Locations: Lagos, Nigeria

Job Summary: Ensure effective tactical execution of all company policies and procedures related to efficient management of environmental concerns, promote environmental awareness within the organization, and provide professional advice on sound environmental practices which eliminate/ minimize risks arising from non-compliance

Principal Functions:

•   Ensure that relevant environmental laws and regulations are considered in the formulation and implementation of company policies

•   Liaise with relevant departments and/ or divisions to implement effective strategies for minimizing environmental risks arising from Etisalat Nigeria's business operations

•   Coordinate activities of relevant departments and/ or divisions to ensure roles and responsibilities are assigned for effectively addressing identified environmental concern

•   Proffer advice to line management on strategies and tactics for meeting Etisalat Nigeria's environmental compliance obligations

•   Ensure appropriate studies are conducted on all Etisalat Nigeria sites and other facilities as required by relevant environmental laws and regulations

•   Oversee all environmental compliance project activities – both internal and external – to ensure overall efficiency

•   Review/ certify environmental reports and EMPs prior to submission for approval

•   Ensure implementation of approved EMPs for all Etisalat Nigeria facilities

•   Monitor implementation and coordinate activities related to the company's Environmental Management System (EMS)

•   Ensure adherence to identified environmental standards

•   Carry out periodic compliance monitoring and make recommendations for the attention of line management

•   Prepare project proposals and terms of reference in accordance with applicable guidelines

•   Create awareness and advise stakeholder units on matters relating to environmental compliance status and obligations

•   Coordinate activities with other Government & Regulatory Affairs units as may be required

•   Implement work programmes and plans in line with agreed procedures

•   Ensure the maintenance of site monitoring logbooks for all Etisalat Nigeria facilities

•   Prepare an annual environmental compliance report for review by line management

•   Perform any other duties as assigned by line management

Educational Requirements:

•   First degree in environmental sciences or other related fields

•   Relevant postgraduate/ professional qualifications/ certifications in environmental management shall be an added advantage

Experience,Skills & Competencies:

•   At least 4 years directly relevant post-NYSC work experience in environmental compliance management

•   Ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate:

•   Excellent project management, written and oral communication skills

•   Proficiency in MS Office applications – Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
