Summary: Direct and coordinate the daily activities of the accounting staff to quickly and accurately record the revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities while coordinating with the banks and Coordinate company's financial planning and budget management functions while overseeing the accounting, monitoring and implementation of internal financial controls. Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles and best practices.

Desired Candidate Profile:

Knowledge, Critical Skills & Competencies:

•   Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

•   Basic Knowledge of operating and capital budget concepts.

•   Ability to correctly record transactions and prepare reports in a timely fashion.

•   Knowledge of policies and practices associated with payroll and benefits administration.

•   Knowledge and ability in the use of a personal computer and software applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.).

•   Ability to effectively use a modern automated financial management system.

•   Ability to communicate effectively both written & verbal.

•   Ability to motivate and supervise a team while demonstrating high level of integrity

•   Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast paced multicultural environment

•   Ability to maintain effective work relations with co-workers and outsiders.

•   Ability to work independently, with little supervision

•   Ability to effectively direct and supervise.

Education & Experience: A minimum of accounting graduate with atleast 5 years if experience in the area of accounting. Experience of working with an automated financial management system such as Navision and in Nigeria is desirable but not mandatory.

Age Range: 28-38years

Job Description:

•   Oversee the daily accounting activities (including, but not limited to, cash reconciliations, account statement reconciliations, check runs, accounts receivable transactions, fixed asset activity, payroll, accounts payable transactions, debt activity, recording of revenue and expenses, etc.).

•   Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities and review general ledger and inter- company reconciliation on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of posting.

•   Monitor and track debtors to ensure that they are consistent with contract conditions and collections are consistent within set company time frames.

•   Assist the Finance Controller in preparation of annual budgets, both operating and capital expenditure budgets.

•   Ensure that the company is compliant with all statutory and regulatory bodies set by the government agencies (Tax, VAT, Environmental, Standard Organisation of Nigeria) and implement recommendations to improve accounting procedures.

•   Manage a team of accounting officers while ensuring the staff is adequately trained and achieves high standards of performance.

•   Professionally Liaise with bankers, auditors, forwarding agents & transporters.

•   Handle administrative responsibilities and supervise the activities of the staff.

•   Perform other duties as assigned by the FC/GFC.
