port-harcourt-refinery                        Independent Oil Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has blamed those engaged in illegal oil bunkering and pipeline vandals for the low production of petroleum products at the Port Harcourt Refinery.

The association's President, Prince Sunny Nkpe made this observation during a press briefing in Port Harcourt. He promised that the IPMAN would collaborate with the security agencies to fight illegal oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism.

Prince Nkpe regretted that the activities of this group have not only grounded the refinery but was also hindering the economic growth of the nation.

He therefore, called for an urgent attention to curb the dangerous activities of these hoodlums or the nation's economy would continue to dwindle by the day.

The President revealed that the association is leaving no stone unturned to check and control the menace, with a view to ensuring that oil crime is reduced to the barest minimum.

He hinted that the association has planned a programme to sensitize the catchment communities who are victims of the environmental effect of illegal oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism.

While continuing, Mr. Nkpe lamented the negative environmental effect of these hazardous activities and urged the people to rise up to the occasion and defend their environment and future generation from destruction.

The association Chairman also warned perpetrators of these illegalities to desist from such nefarious acts, not only in their own interest, but also for the sake of the society, warning that there would be no hiding place for them any longer.
