Lagos State Government, yesterday, said the collective capital base of the state cooperative societies had increased to N60 billion with 13, 000 registered cooperative societies.
.
It will be recalled that two years ago, the cumulative asset base of the cooperative societies stood at N40 billion.
.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr. Gbolahan Lawal, who announced this at a briefing to herald the 2013 International Cooperative Day, with the theme, 'Cooperative Enterprise Remains Strong in time of Crisis,' noted that efforts were being intensified to realise the one million fish production target.
.
Lawal said, "to achieve a 25 per cent increase in fish production in the state before 2015, more communities are being empowered to achieve the objective."
