Leaders of Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State have endorsed the People's Party of Nigeria governorship candidate in the 2011 election, Mr. Gboyega Isiaka, as the governorship flag bearer for the zone in the 2015 polls.

The Ogun West leaders said Isiaka would however compete for the number one seat in the state on the platform of the Labour Party.

They said this in a communiqué at the end of an interactive meeting with Isiaka in Imeko.

The leaders have also directed the people of Ogun West to move enmass to Labour Party to enable the zone to realise its age-long ambition of producing the governor of the state since it was created over 37 years ago.

The communiqué, which was made available to journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital,  on Sunday, was jointly signed by Waliu  Taiwo (Ado-Odo/Ota), Olumide Bankole (Ipokia), Chief Lisa Adejobi (Imeko Afon), Mrs Kemi Adeyemi (Yewa North) and Allhaji Sunmola Adewale (Yewa South).

It read, "That Gboyega Nasir Isiaka is granted permission and maximum support to run for the 2015 governorship contest in Ogun State.

"That the possible platform to achieve the agenda is Labour Party; hence, onward movement of Ogun West people to Labour Party in earnest is advised.

"That political negotiation and proper consultation with other Senatorial districts be given earnest consideration to harness more support for the agenda.

"That a consensus candidate be prevailed upon to avoid duplication of efforts and interest, a position that had always affected us in the past.

"That political leaders across the Senatorial district should rise to re-organise the political structure of the district for better participation to achieve desired political goals."

At the meeting held under the chairmanship of  Taiwo, Isiaka reflected on the act of governance in the state, saying in 2015 when Ogun State would be 39 years old, both Ogun East and Central Districts would have ruled for 12 and 10 years respectively while Ogun West continued to be denied the same opportunity.
