The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi, has stressed the need for wealthy Christians to assist in sponsoring the less- privileged on pilgrimage to holy land to uplift their spiritual well-being. The Speaker stated this during a sensitization visit to the House by the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Adekunbi said doing this would go a long way in promoting their religiosity and evangelism, noting that government had ensured that the fare to the Holy Lands were subsidised to encourage the people in attaining their spiritual benefits.

He appreciated the efforts of the board on its sensitization programmes aimed at ensuring a successful Holy Pilgrimage. On his part, Hon. Olayiwola Ojodu, commended the Board for the way it organised the 2012 Holy Pilgrimage in which he was a participant, describing the experience as spiritually worthwhile. .

Earlier, the Chairman, Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Bishop Oludotun Ogunseye, represented by the Executive Secretary, Mr. David Akinlolu, explained that the preparation for the Holy pilgrimage had commenced with the sensitization programme embarked upon by the board.

He added that the visit was to solicit support for sponsorship to the Holy Land as well as to brief the House about the programmes and activities of the board.

Bishop Ogunseye informed the House that the board had intensified its efforts in advocacy visits to the local government chairmen and churches in the State on the need to sponsor people to Israel, Rome and Greece.
