Job Title: Bursar

Location: Akaeze, Nigeria

Responsibilities:

•   The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University and is directly responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the management and control of the finances of the University.

•   He/She shall advise the vice Chancellor on finance related matters; coordinate the development and update the University financial management plans; coordinate the preparation of periodic income and expenditure, balance sheet and cash flow estimates and consolidation when necessary.

•   He/She shall ensure that accurate records are maintained of all local and foreign assets and liabilities held by the University, The duties also includes monitoring monthly income and expenditure and balance sheet variance against the budgets and to ensure that they are rectified; monitoring treasury activities inducting cash flow projections and forecasts for prudence and variance; and negotiating with financial and government institutions with regard to financial matters.

Qualification and Experience:

•   The applicant must have honours degree in Accounting from a recognized University and must exhibit considerable degree of competence, responsiveness, demonstrable integrity and transparency on matters of financial and human resource management.

•   He/She must be ICT compliant and must be conversant with current trends in Financial Reporting-IFRS, IPSAS

•   Possession of Higher degree in accounting with adequate post qualification experience will be an added advantage. In addition, applicant is required to write in not more than six hundred (600) words his/her proposal for fund generation and management for the university.

Terms and Conditions of Service: The posts are tenure track. The successful candidates shall hold the office for a term of four (4) years in the first Instance; renewable based on performance assessment for final term of four years. The remuneration and conditions of service are as applicable to the posts in similar Nigerian Universities, with appropriate additional conditions as may be determined from time to time by the Board of Trustees/Governing Council.

20.   Names and addresses of 3 Referees (one of whom must be in candidate's field of study);

Each referee should be contacted by the applicant to forward, direct to the Chairman, Board of Trustees a confidential report on the candidate's character, administrative and managerial abilities in a properly sealed envelope marked post of Vice Chancellor, or Registrar or Bursar as the case may be: Referee's Report at the top left hand corner of the envelope.
