We're Up For La Liga Challenge - Ike Uche

Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche is not oblivious of the challenges ahead of him and his teammates at Villarreal but promised to deliver the goals to help the team acquit themselves well in the La Liga when the new season starts later this month.

The former Getafe striker's crucial goals were part of the reasons why Villarreal found their way back to the top-flight this season after their drop to the lower rung of Spanish football penultimate season.

However, the 30-year-old player was excited by the prospect of playing top-flight football once again- though he was of the view that it will not be an easy task playing against the best stars in the league.

"We are working well in pre-season, assimilating the work and everything the coach wants us to do. Such moments are key to what we shall see once the league starts and you have to be well prepared.

Moreover, I'm looking forward to the new season as it is very important to me and I have much hope that things will go well for us. Now, we have to be focused and train very hard," said Uche.

The fair-skinned forward also believe that Villarreal have some quality strikers that can help the team achieve maximally next season.

"I think we have a good front and there is much competition and I think that competition is good for everyone because it will make the team stronger.

Firstly, we must score goals and we know it is the responsibility of everyone but more importantly we strikers in the team to deliver the goals. We are working on it and striving to make things as best as possible," he said.

Uche also spoke on his splendid form for the team last season:

"It was a great season for me personally and for all of us as a team; and we hope to continue to maintain that level . Though it is true that in the first division is more complicated but I think we can score the goals we need. We are able to do it and I think we will," he vowed.
