THERE are indications that President Goodluck Jonathan, might have ordered all federal agencies in Edo State to pay the over N2.5billion owed to the state government from Pay As You Earn, PAYE, to avoid a repeat of the crisis that led to the closure of Benin Airport last week.
.
Vanguard gathered that the President gave the charge, shortly after he met with Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who visited with him to explain the reasons for the closure of the administrative building of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, at the Benin Airport last Monday.
.
It was learnt that the President agreed that meeting tax obligations was not negotiable and directed all federal agencies to meet their tax obligations to the state.
.
After the FAAN management had apologised to Nigerians and Governor Oshiomhole for the disruption in flights caused by the Benin Airport incident, FAAN, Vanguard learnt, was making frantic effort to pay the N15million owed to the Edo State Government from PAYE.

Well it's better if such steps are taken before things result into something bad and violent. I hope they act on this a.s.a.p
