CIBN president tasks FG on power sector transformation

President of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Mr. Segun Aina, has urged the Federal Government to be resolute in its resolve to transform the power sector.

Aina said the frequent power irregularity had battered the growth of the country's economy.

The CIBN President spoke at a lecture entitled: "Roles of financial institutions in the promotion of small and medium scale businesses in Nigeria" organised at the weekend in Osogbo by the Osun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

He said: "If the power sector is transformed, it will enhance rapid development of the nation's economy.

"Problems associated with power supply had sent some investors away from the country; a situation which has negative effects on the nation's economy."
