Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis announced on Friday that the Serie A club have agreed a deal to sign sought-after Colombian forward Duvan Zapata.
.
The deal will see Zapata, who had reportedly been a target for clubs in England as well as Serie A newboys Sassuolo, leave Estudiantes of Argentina to join up with new Napoli coach Rafael Benitez.
.
"We have sealed a deal with Zapata. We have signed it with Estudiantes. The player is on his way to Naples by train for a medical," De Laurentiis wrote on Twitter.
.
Italian media reports later said that Zapata will cost Napoli around six million euros.
.
Zapata, 22, began his career with America Cali before scoring 13 goals in 31 matches with Estudiantes.
.
Napoli have been active in the transfer market this summer after selling last season's top scorer Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain for a reported 64 million euros.
.
Real Madrid trio Gonzalo Higuain, Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon have been signed, while Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has arrived on loan to team up with his former boss Benitez.
.
Napoli, who finished second in Serie A last season, begin their campaign against Bologna on Sunday.
