2011/2012 TWAS-UNICAL Master's Fellowships at University of Calabria, Italy

TWAS-UNICAL Fellowships are tenable at the University of Calabria (UNICAL), Italy, for a period of 2 years, extendable for 1 additional year.

TWAS will provide support for travel (one round trip in economy class), visa and related costs, health insurance, a lump sum of US$ 1,700 per year for local incidental costs, and excess luggage expenses upon completion of the fellowship (for stays longer than 12 months). UNICAL will provide board and lodging at its residential centre. The language of instruction at UNICAL is Italian.

Eligibility:
•  be a maximum age of 35 years on 31 December of the application year;
•  be permanent residents of Haiti;
•  hold a BSc degree in a relevant field of the natural sciences;
•  be willing to register at the University of Calabria (UNICAL);
•  provide sufficient evidence of knowledge of Italian according to Italian regulations in order to obtain a student visa;
•  not take up other assignments during the period of the fellowship;
•  be financially responsible for any accompanying family member;
•  pre-register at the Italian Embassy in the Domenican Republic and provide copy of the "dichiarazione di valore".

Submitting your application:
•   Applicants must complete the application form available and return it as an MS Word document together with all required enclosures in jpeg or PDF format.
•   Reference letters: Referees must send signed letters as attachment via e-mail directly to TWAS and UNICAL. The subject line must contain: TWAS-UNICAL/Haiti/candidate's surname. Alternatively, letters should be sent by post in sealed envelopes. Only signed reference letters can be accepted.
•   Applicants for the TWAS-UNICAL Master's Fellowship Programme should send their application and all required enclosures to TWAS (fellowships@twas.org) AND UNICAL, Prof. Violini (violini@fis.unical.it) before the deadline (by email ONLY).

Deadline for applications: 31 July 2011.

Note: Applicants can apply for only one fellowship per year.
