Bayelsa United head coach, Ladan Bosso has said his side will not be in a hurry to relinquish their leadership position in the Glo Premier League.

The former Nigerian champions were forced to a barren draw by hosts, Sunshine Stars on Thursday in the Glo Premier League Matchday 28 encounter at the Akure Township Stadium.

The mid-week tie could not hold as scheduled due to heavy downpour that made the playground waterlogged.

Bayelsa United have now climbed to the top of the elite league log on 46 points from a possible 84 and one point clear of closest challengers, Enyimba and Kano Pillars.

Bosso said his wards know the challengers are right their tail for the top spot and will work very hard to maintain the new status the side have assumed on the log.

"I feel very glad with the goalless scoreline against Sunshine Stars which has taken us to the top of the log.

"The players gave good account of themselves because they know what is expected of them as well as what is at stake.

"They want to make names for themselves we only want to assist them achieve their individual dreams.

"I think we've taken the lead for good. We have 10 matches to wrap up the season, what we'll do is to work extremely hard to consolidate on our position.

"Though we're not desperate to hold onto the lead or win the league shield but if God look on our hard work and said we deserved to win the league we won't turn away from grabbing the golden opportunity," said the former Kano Pillars coach to supersport.com.

Bayelsa United will host next door neighbours, Sharks on Sunday in the Glo Premier League Matchday 29 duel at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa and Bosso said they are looking forward to an interesting game.
