The Do School Sustainable Cup Challenge
« on: Sep 06, 2013, 09:31 AM »

The DO School offers a unique one-year educational program enabling talented emerging social entrepreneurs to launch their own innovative and sustainable ventures. The program allows its participants – our Fellows – to learn from passionate peers, engage with current leaders and experts, and create change by implementing their social start-ups in their home countries. The year long program takes place in two phases, the ten-week Incubation Phase on campus and the ten-month Implementation Phase in the Fellows’ home countries. During the Incubation Phase Fellows solve a group Challenge in order to learn hands-on how to act entrepreneurially and successfully take action.

The Challenge: Every day in New York City, millions of plastic and paper drink cups are used and thrown away – posing a serious problem to the environment and waste management alike.  In response to this problem the DO School is calling for applications from international participants to develop and present a sustainable ‘to-go’ cup, as well as a related infrastructure and campaign, for New York City. This Challenge is given in collaboration with New York City’s Office of Long Term Planning and Sustainability.
