The Kogi State Government has appealed to communities having boundary disputes to embrace peace so as to bring development to their areas.

The Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi made this call at a meeting with stakeholders on Ogori- Magongo/Okene Inter-Local Government boundary dispute at his office in Lokoja.

Awoniyi who is also chairman of the State Boundary Committee, said the meeting became imperative to further galvanise existing peaceful co-existence, saying people of the two local government areas have been living peacefully over the years, and should not allow issues of boundary dispute to divide them.

He commended both communities for maintaining peace and order, urging other local governments to emulate them for the overall development of the state as a whole.

Awoniyi particularly lauded Ogori/Magongo Local Government for handling its boundary grievances with utmost maturity, discipline and restraint.

He called for more cooperation from the stakeholders towards maintaining peace in their respective domains and amicable resolution of the matter.
