There are several plastic windshields that stay absolutely secure when they are treated with stress as compared to the glass counterpart. It is not as easy said than done to find a suitable replacement for your vehicle's plastic windshield, however you can take heart with the fact that they are easily replaceable if any damage occurs.

To keep them clean you must wash them on both the sides using dish washing detergent and hot water. The crack that has occurred in the windshield should be cleaned properly so that it does not cause scratching to the polished surface. Any form of grease or dirt should be removed properly as this may hamper the solvent cement that will be used to join the broken plastic. If the cement is not done properly, this can lead to the crack splitting again.

After you have properly cleaned that area, it should be taped well used a painter masking tape, and ensuring that you leave a one-fourth inches border of the plastic on all the sides of the crack. This needs to be done precisely and with patience because if the solvent cement spills out then this can easily scar the finish of the windshield surface. The tape also enables in creating a barrier between the windshields and adhesive cement.

Furthermore, the applicator bottle must be filled with solvent cement halfway. The acrylic solvent cement is considered to be the most ideal one for almost all the transparent plastics; and using the thumb and index finger you must apply some pressure to the sides until the liquid comes to the top. This pressure must be released slowly, and a vacuum should be created within the bottle in order to prevent the cement from getting spilt, mainly when the bottle is tilted throughout the application process.

When you are repairing a UTV plastic windshield, it is required that you apply a thin layer of cement at one side of the windshield. This cement may be used to block up the crack using capillary action. After that the cement should be allowed to dry for at least two hours, and the mask around the tape should be removed. This tape should then be applied on either side of the crack with only ΒΌ" border left at the boundary.

After the cement has dried and the crack has been fixed successfully, you may again clean that area using lukewarm water and detergent to get a clean look. If you are unable to repair the side by side windshield yourself then we would recommend that you take help from a professional as this will save you time and also avoid further damage of the windshield.
