... as Tambuwal pays condolence

Former Finance Minister, Chief Olu Falae said at the weekend that his dreams of nurturing his son, Deji Falae who died in a plane crash on Thursday while conveying the corpse of former Govrnor Olusegun Agagu as his political successor, has been dashed.

A visibly shaken Falae said this in his home in Akure, the Ondo State capital while receiving the Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Tambuwal, who came to commiserate with him.

"I was looking forward to seeing Deji take over from me, because I have reached the peak of my being in politics.

I will miss him so much," Falae lamented. He, however, said he took solace in God over the untimely death of his son saying "no one can query God as He knows the best."

Tambuwal who described Deji as his friend said the deceased just sent useful text messages to him on how to move the country forward some four days before he died in the plane crash He, however, prayed that God would grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Deji was the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Ondo State who led the state government's delegation to accompany the corpse of the former governor from Lagos to Akure for the final burial.

Meanwhile, traditional rulers in Ondo State also paid a condolence visit to the home of Falae in Akure over the unfortunate incident. Speaking with the monarchs, Falae explained that his son earned his place in the present government of Ondo State without his assistance, saying despite his politiincal stature, he never influenced his son's appointment as Commissioner. He said Deji had been a friend of Governor Mimiko and his appointment had nothing to do with his person as a politician.

The traditional rulers, led by the Olukare of Ikare-Akoko, Oba Akadiri Momoh, encouraged Falae to have faith in God, and prayed for the soul of the departed to rest in peace.

The state Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade said Deji was involved in the crash as he was chosen to represent the state government in conveying the corpse of Agagu to Akure following the request by Agagu's family that a senior member of the state government should accompany the corpse.

He said the government was still mourning the loss, and a three-day fasting and prayers would ensure that such disasters did not recur.
