Twitter's Latest Experiment Parrots Breaking News

Twitter has launched @EventParrot, a new service that sends breaking news directly to users. Confirmed by Twitter designer Paul Stamatiou, the account—which has been verified—is an official Twitter experiment.

Similar to the company's other experiment, @MagicRecs, which recommends personalities to connect with, @EventParrot sends updates via direct messages, but only to followers of the account. The former, however, also sends follow suggestions as push notifications to Twitter's mobile app users. It's not clear yet whether the latter will follow suit.
