The Minister of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade has charged Nigerians to abide by the tenets of love, faith, obedience, prayer, sacrifice and submission to the will of God as the Islamic community in Nigerian celebrates the annual Eid-el Kabir; reminding them that the occasion is time for display of the virtues of tolerance, understanding and good neighbourliness.

According to the Minister, Muslims and Christians should use the occasion to renew their faith in God, love their neighbours and make necessary sacrifice to improve the lot of the country, considering the security and other challenges it has experienced in the recent past.

He informed the citizens that the country would be much better and more progressive if Nigerians imbibe the lessons offered by Eid-el Kabir. Islam, he says is not only a religion of peace that recognises differences and encourages tolerance; it abhors willful taking of human lives in any guise. He warned those who are reveling in the termination of innocent lives and their sponsor about the lack of support from Islam and urged them to change their hearts and align with Allah's admonitions.

According to the Minister, Eid-el Kabir should not be celebrated with over-indulgence in eating and drinking, but with reflection on how and why the country has been reduced to its knees by agents of darkness. He also bided Nigerians to reverse the nation's journey to self-destruction by asking God's favour and working for the country's collective good, especially in fostering religious harmony and national security.

Olubolade wished all Nigerians a happy and rewarding Eid-el Kabir and felicitated with all Nigerian Muslim pilgrims who have successfully performed their religious obligations.
